4 Months Old

Ava turned four months old this week. How did we celebrate? By going to the doctor for a well child checkup, of course! Ava weighed in at 13 pounds 14 ounces and measured 23 3/4 inches long! She's really growing like a weed! It's weird to think that she's almost 2 feet tall, 3 more feet and she'll be my height! Strange.

The doctor said she looked perfect! Her weight was in the 50th %ile and her height in the 30th. He gave us the go ahead to start feeding her cereal once a day, and said that if she does well with that, we can start vegetable baby food. It brings a tear to my eye that she is growing up so fast, but I know that with each stage comes new and exciting things. We tried the cereal last night and she did not like it. So, as directed by the doctor, we're gonna wait a week and try again. I think she'll be more into it once we get the high chair set up-we just tried it in the Bumbo last night. So, last night was her first time using a spoon, trying to eat cereal, and wear a bib....lots of firsts.

We'll see how it goes next week! Until then....

The Family Now Knows!

This has been a great week for us. We told my mom, Grant, Mandy, and Sarah on Wednesday night after small group. Mom was totally surprised and excited. Sarah was excited too! Mandy said she guessed it so she wasn’t that surprised. Mom couldn’t wait to tell her mom, so we all loaded into Grant’s CRV and drove over to Granny’s. They were really excited as well. We were so glad we could tell that news with part of our family. The next night we were going to tell Kyle’s mom and sister, Katie. They were ecstatic! Now that we have told some of our family, this pregnancy seems to becoming more of a reality every day. Now I can talk with my mom and Kyle’s mom about what I am experiencing and it is awesome to not have to keep this a secret from them anymore. My sister, Mandy (Amanda to everyone else but family), asked if I wanted to go to a big sale at a consignment store yesterday. We're Having a Baby!

Pardon the hair and the outfit, this was really early in the morning! The Results Are In! Proud Father Holding the Test Kyle and I found out on Sunday, February 1, that we are pregnant! We had made the decision in November to go off the pill at the beginning of the New Year. We had talked a lot about starting a family, and prayed a lot about it too. We had always said that we wanted to wait until we had been married five years before we wanted to start trying, but one day in November, we just started talking about it. Both of us felt a stirring in our hearts and felt God saying that this would be a good time. We were excited about getting off the pill, but had a constant thought in the back of our minds that it would probably take months for us to get pregnant.
