Home Sweet Home....Finally!

We are finally moved in to our new home! We are so happy and are loving every second so far. Except when you break the glass in a ginormous picture....and except when somehow your brand new white towels have mysterious pink splotches on them! But other than that, we are loving our new home!
Monday morning we came and did the final walk through of the house and then we went and closed on it. Since then, we have been moving machines. My awesome dad helped us get all of our heavy furniture from our storage building and our super small group friends helped us get all the boxes from one house to the new house! We still have a garage full of boxes to unpack, but I think we are moving at a steady pace. In my mind I thought it could all get done in about a day, but reality hit me like a ton of bricks and I'm hoping we'll be all settled by next weekend.
Ava loves her new house! She walks around from one room to another exploring. She especially loves our master bathroom and her bedroom. One other thing she really looks forward to is helping me water the yard. She thinks it is funny to go with me to turn the water spickets on and then run away before the water hits us. We got splashed a lot last week, but since then, I have learned the art of following the spray around and then turning the water off. I may look like a big goofball out there, but it gets the job done!
I'll post some pictures once everything gets settled! Gotta go get back to work!

Our New Little Addition!

We have had a new addition to our little home. His name is Whitman Nash Brooks and he is the sweetest dog I have ever been around. Let me tell you the story about this sweet little dog and how he became a part of the Brooks family. For Fall Break, and to celebrate my sister's birthday, we went on a little trip to Nashville. Our main purpose was to 1) eat at Chipotle and 2) take Ava to the Nashville Science Center. For some reason, I woke up way early on Saturday and went ahead and got ready, got everyone else to get up and get ready, and we headed to breakfast and then the Science Center. It opened at ten and we got there at nine. A few minutes after we parked, a huge truck and trailer pulled in, and the trailer had a dog on it and said Nashville Humane Society, Mobile Unit. I got out and asked if there were really dogs in there and if I could take a look around. I went in and there were three wild puppies and one little white dog, named Whitman, that looked at me pleadingl...

So Totally In Love....

This daughter of ours is the number one best thing that has happened to us since we got married! I say it all the time, and I can't say it enough....I love this girl! Her personality is growing and growing each and every day. She's really funny! She's learning how to see how far she can go before getting in trouble. She taught herself this week how to get on the love seat and laughs and giggles so much when she finally makes it up to the seat. She loves to stand on the love seat and completely understands that she's not allowed to do it. But, she does it anyway...and when we start counting to three she throws herself down and just laughs and laughs! Funny, huh? Some people think it's an attitude, and while we should probably be getting frustrated about that, we cant help but laugh because she's so stinking cute! She's growing up before our very eyes! I can't believe she will be a year and a half next month! I don't know where all the time has gone. I...

People Pleasing Problem

One of my biggest faults is that I'm a people pleaser through and through. People pleasing sounds nice, doesn't it? I'm telling you....it's not! It is a curse and I think it stems from the devil! I think the root of the problem comes from pride. I wanna make sure to please people so that I look good. I wanna make sure everyone likes me and likes what I'm doing and everything is happy, happy, joy, joy. Except.....all that is work. Hard work. It is an impossible task that leaves me awake at all hours during the night wondering how I'm am being perceived by everyone around me. People pleasing takes time, yall. It robs me of my precious time. Instead of stewing on people pleasing thoughts....I could be spending that time in the Word (remember how I recently posted how I'm having difficulty finding focused and intentional time with God? If I worried less about people pleasing, I'd have more time with God!) I could be spending that "worry time" hav...
