Happenings!

Hey everyone! It's me, Rebecca! Once again, we've let too much time go by without updating our blog. I'm going to take a few minutes now to tell you what's been going on.

Spring Break was just a couple of weeks ago. Kyle and I, Ava, and a couple of great friends loaded up the van for a fun trip to Savannah, Georgia. We thought it was something new and exciting...and it was! We spent a couple of days walking on the Riverstreet exploring shops and getting samples of delicious treats, and we spent another day at the beach. That had to be our favorite day! Ava loved putting her feet in the sand, but didn't care for when she got splashed by the cold water. Although the day we went to the beach was cooler than the rest of the days, it was peaceful and nice to bask in the sun for several hours. We were sad to leave the beautiful city of Savannah and sad to get back to the real world of work, work, work.

While we were on our trip, Ava started saying Da Da and Ma Ma. She said Da Da first, and it is so sweet to hear it come from her mouth. She always has a smile on her face when she says our names and there is nothing like it in all the world. She rarely says Ma Ma unless she's eating green beans. Weird, huh?

Both Kyle and I are beyond ready for summer break. Spring Break was amazing and I can't wait to spend so much time with my husband and daughter for several weeks in a row. We're planning to spend some time in Texas with Kyle's sister and husband and we're really looking forward to that. My WKU class is exhausting, and I am taking two more courses this summer. Hopefully they won't be as bad as the one class I am taking now!

Ava got her six month pictures taken yesterday and I am so excited to get them back. The photographer showed us a few of them and they looked great. There are several of her wearing a big, fluffy pink tutu I made for her. These were the first pictures where she really captured lots of her personality and smiles. Oh, how I wish time would slow down. I can't believe how fast she's growing. She'll be dedicated at church on Mother's Day in a couple of weeks at 11:00. If you can, you should come out and see this exciting event!

Wow, I feel like this is the most random post I've ever done. Oh well, just wanted to keep you posted on what's going on with the Brooks Family! Enjoy the pictures of Ava and us at the beach!

Our Funny Daughter!

Ava is growing up wayyyyy too fast! In the past few weeks she has learned a lot and seems to have gotten funnier as the days go on. Let me update you on our funny girl! Goodbye! Ava has said bye-bye for a long time now, but lately her goodbyes have become so much cuter! We will tell her to say goodbye to someone and she starts waving and saying bye. Instead of it coming out bye, it's more like bah, bah, baaaaahhhhh , and she continues saying bye for a very long time after whoever has left. She is soooo southern when she says bye! I love it! She thinks it is funny for us to smell her feet and then she will smell own and says shew, shew like they really do stink! She's taken it a step further now. We will be sitting there and instead of smelling our feet, she starts to try to put our toes in her mouth! Yuck! How do you teach someone that it's not nice to put someone's toes in your mouth!?! She thinks it is so funny when we ask her to give us a kiss. She will run away, ...

One Year Photo Shoot

Last week, our photographer got Ava's one year pictures to us. I was amazed when I looked through the pictures because Ava was not feeling well at all and was really fussy! Once again, our photographer didn't let us down and got some wonderful shots of our precious baby! Take a look at some of our favorites! (Of course they did not upload in the order I wanted them to.)

The Family Now Knows!

This has been a great week for us. We told my mom, Grant, Mandy, and Sarah on Wednesday night after small group. Mom was totally surprised and excited. Sarah was excited too! Mandy said she guessed it so she wasn’t that surprised. Mom couldn’t wait to tell her mom, so we all loaded into Grant’s CRV and drove over to Granny’s. They were really excited as well. We were so glad we could tell that news with part of our family. The next night we were going to tell Kyle’s mom and sister, Katie. They were ecstatic! Now that we have told some of our family, this pregnancy seems to becoming more of a reality every day. Now I can talk with my mom and Kyle’s mom about what I am experiencing and it is awesome to not have to keep this a secret from them anymore. My sister, Mandy (Amanda to everyone else but family), asked if I wanted to go to a big sale at a consignment store yesterday. I said yes just to have something to do knowing that I wouldn’t buy anything because I am already starting to g...
