Now Introducing Ava Layne Brooks

Kind of fuzzy, but a great memory!
It's a Girl!!!

One of the only pictures of the cards I made!
Yesterday was a pretty big day for Kyle and I. We had our first ultrasound and found out that we are having a precious baby girl! We were so shocked when the ultrasound tech. said it was a girl because everyone had convinced us it was going to be a boy. We were shocked but so very excited.

This day was extremely emotional for me. As soon as I left school I was sobbing with joy. I just could not believe that in a few short minutes I was going to see our baby! I have honestly never been so overjoyed in all my life.

The ultrasound was so fun. I laughed and cried the whole way through it. She was bouncing all over the place. We were really hoping we would get a good view of whether or not the baby was a boy or a girl and the first thing she did when the camera was on her was show us her stuff. Then she continued to do it about 5 more times throughout the ultrasound. It was so funny! She was basically saying, "You wanted to see it.....here it is!" I am going to attempt to post the video on here so our out of town friends and family can see her for the first time. There is actually one point where she is giving a thumbs up to us! (Be patient with the video, it pauses for several seconds while he snaps a picture of her.) (By the way, I can't figure out how to put the video from DVD to the Blog, so I will have to find someone to help with that. I'll hurry I promise!)

We went to tell all of our family as soon as we could. We wanted to share the news with them in a unique way so I made some cards for each of them. The first side said Baby in silver and inside in pink letters was her monogram. We wanted to see if they could guess her name. As always, it took them quite some time to get the fact that the pink stood for a girl so that had to be explained to them, and they mostly guessed Abigail, with the exception of Allie, Anderson, Ashley, and one Abraham! Everyone loves her name and can't wait to see her.

Stay tuned for the ultrasound video...we think it is pretty awesome!

Adley's Birth Story

I have been a little overloaded in life and let our blog go to the back burner!  But, I must write about sweet Adley's birth story just like I did with Ava and Anniston :) On June 8, after a sleepless night, Kyle and I got up and got ready to head to the hospital to meet our third precious girl.  To say I was nervous would be the biggest understatement ever.  Even though I had gone through 2 csections before, it didn't mean I wasn't scared and nervous....it's a big, scary surgery!  Mostly I was just afraid of the needle.... We arrived at the hospital, checked in, and started getting prepped for surgery.  First came the beautiful gown (I was so happy it wasn't the paper/plastic gown like I had with Anniston...I sweat to death in that gown), then came blood work and the IV, which I was not excited about....I hate needles.  And then the VERY worst part started.  Waiting.  Waiting for the magical hour of 7:30 am.  It took forever.  I was...

Freezer Cooking

Well, many of you know about my adventures in freezer cooking. Lots of people have asked how it works, how I do it, etc.  So, I've decided to blog about it.  I will include pictures, recipes, and a shopping list.  After all that, you will be set to try it with a group of your friends!  All of this ended up costing right around $92 per family.  We did a $50 deposit up front, and then the remaining balance was split up and paid the day we cooked.  This is enough for you and 4 friends to each go home with 17 meals in this day.  First off, let me list the meals you will make: Easy Cheeseburger Casserole (each family will go home with 2 of these) Tex Mex Chicken and Rice (each family will go home with 4 of these) Baked Chicken Fajitas (each family will go home with 2 of these) BBQ Chicken (each family will go home with 2 of these) Chili  (each family will go home with 2 of these) Chicken Casserole with Doritos (each family will go home with 2 ...

Totally In Love....

Well, since our last post, I gave birth to our first daughter, Ava. We are totally in love with her. She is perfect and beautiful and amazing. We can't thank God enough for this precious blessing. Let me update you on the last week. Last Thursday morning, we went and checked into the hospital at 9:30 for my scheduled C-section. The surgery was scheduled for 11:30. I felt pretty good up until the hour before the surgery happened. At that time, I got the nervous shakes. I was scared of going under the knife for my first time ever, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well everything went. The doctor was late so everything got pushed back about an hour which made the nerves really kick in. At a little before 1:00 I was wheeled in to the OR. Kyle had to wait in a little room until a nurse came to get him. I had to get my spinal tap and he couldn't be in there for that. I warned the nurse that I was going to squeeze her really hard because I was scared to death of that needle. I wa...
