A New Year!

Sorry it's taken forever to update our blog. We have been super busy with things, but I've made a few minutes to update you on our happenings.

I can not believe it is 2010! Kyle and I are still trying to figure out what to call it-do you call it o-ten, or twenty ten, or ten?!? This is a tough decision. I think I've decided to just call it two thousand ten and Kyle for some reason has named it aut ten. Why's that? I have no earthly idea.

Our New Years Resolutions are kinda silly, but definitely do-able. For starters, we don't want to eat out as much. Cooking meals at home is much healthier and cheaper. We've gotten pretty bad about eating out since Ava was born, mainly because we were either too sleepy to cook or just didn't want to take time away from playing and taking care of Ava to fix something. Our second goal is to have a schedule for cleaning our house so that we won't have to clean on the weekend. We love our home to be clean, but hate spending all weekend doing it, so Kyle cleverly came up with a schedule and so far we're sticking to it. The third resolution is one that has to do with our careers. We are striving to be more positive with our students. This is probably the hardest and definitely a high priority. So far, we have been successful!

Our sweet baby girl is just about to turn three months old. Where has the past three months gone? It is so crazy how fast time goes once you have a child. We have loved every single minute though.

Now that I am officially back at work, Ava stays home with a great babysitter during the day. She's adjusted nicely to being taken care of by someone other than Kyle and I. Although I loved every second I was home with her on maternity leave, I think it was best that I returned to work. It's nice to have adult conversations with my co-workers. I have some wonderful people that I teach with that have become true friends. Even though it is work, there's not a day that goes by when I don't laugh, smile, and truly enjoy my time with them. Plus, being at work makes coming home to Ava so special. When I open the door after work, I am welcomed with a beautiful smile and a sweet little laugh....(and good reports from the babysitter!)

Kyle and I are looking forward to 2010. We don't know how it can get any better than 2009 though. Becoming parents was the best thing that we've ever experienced together. Our love has grown for each other as we have entered this new stage in our life. The love that we have for Ava is indescribable. We are so thankful and grateful of how God has blessed us.

Alrighty, I kept it short and sweet. Hopefully we will get another update on here sooner than later!

The Week is Here!

We can't believe this is the week we will see our daughter. Some of you may be thinking, "What? How do you know? Your due date isn't even until next week!" Well, let me update those of you who may be thinking this. Last week, on Wednesday, we went to the doctor, hoping and praying that my body would be showing some progress towards having a baby. The doctor checked and informed us that the baby is still kinda high, and that I'm not 1 cm dilated, but I'm not 0 cm either. So she told us it was time to make a plan. Here's what she came up with. She said that if I am dilated 2-3 cm by this Wednesday, then she'll send me over to the hospital right then and start inducing me. But, if I'm not 2-3 cm then the following day, Thursday, she would do a c-section. She knew we were going to be on Fall Break and that we'd love to spend a couple of free extra days off with Ava so she said we could do it this week. She's going out of town on Fri...

Can You Hear It?

Yesterday, Kyle and I went to the doctor's office to see if we could hear the heartbeat. As soon as I got there, the receptionist said that our doctor was out delivering a baby and it would be about 30 minutes before she got back. No big deal, I just waited. Then Kyle got there about ten minutes after I did, and we waited some more. And some more. Two hours later, we were taken back to a room where we waited for about 20 more minutes. And finally the doctor was there! No complaining, she's a busy lady! And I had my best friend there to keep me company. What more could a girl ask for....except maybe a cheeseburger-I was STARVING. We were so happy when she came in. I thought I was going to jump off the table. She started telling us about finding the heartbeat and how it could be difficult to find. She told us that if we couldn't hear it, we would schedule an ultrasound so we could SEE it. Well, as soon as she said that I started to get nervous we wouldn't hea...

Thriftiness Fun

Those of you who know me, or have spent at least 5 mintutes around me...know that I am one of the most frugal people on the planet. Why am I such a tightwad? Well...I think I gotta give the credit to my dad on that one. He taught me from an early age the importance of being smart with money. I saved up my birthday and Christmas money when I was very young just so that I could start my first savings account. I started babysitting at age 11 (which I cannot believe), and every bit of that went into my account. I did lots of odd jobs when I was a kid to earn and save a buck here and there, including collecting chestnuts from the giant trees in our backyard to sell at a local grocery store. (Have you ever seen where chestnuts come from?? A baseball sized ball of needles, basically.)  It was a tough job, but I was excited to be earning and saving. So that's the story of my thrifty beginnings, and it has continued to follow me into my adulthood. At this point in my life, saving money ...
